Busting Low Mood Behaviour One Step at a Time

Low mood can affect how we think, how we feel and what we do. More significantly, it can stop us doing the things we need or want to do and which give us satisfaction and pleasure. Tiredness, lethargy, loss of interest, loss of motivation, loss of pleasure, and indecisiveness can start a downward spiral of inactivity, which often keeps the low mood going or makes it worse.

This workshop looks at the steps one may need to take in order to break this cycle and overcome the behavioural patterns that perpetuate low mood.

When and where?

These one-off workshops are open to students only and run throughout the academic year in the Wellbeing Resource Room, on the ground floor of the Simon Building. Check our Workshops page to find out when the next one is scheduled.

Busting Low Mood Behaviour

This is a Zoom facilitated session for students. Please be aware that you must register before 10 am on the day of the workshop in order to ensure enough time for the link to be sent to you.

Are you experiencing symptoms of low mood such as tiredness, lethargy, loss of interest, loss of motivation and loss of pleasure? Have you noticed that you are finding it hard to engage in certain activities, maybe avoiding work or keeping connected to others? Have you found that since COVID-19 you are experiencing low mood for the first time or that your low mood has worsened?

It is not unusual for cycles of low mood to develop in this way and the relationship between how we think, feel and behave can become problematic. These cycles can prevent us from finding alternative, healthier ways of being.

This Zoom workshop will be informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. It will help you to gain a better understanding of low mood and what you can do to manage it, using a range of practical strategies and techniques.

This Zoom workshop will provide an opportunity for Q&A for those who wish to engage in the chat at the end of the session. Audio and video functions will be disabled. Further Zoom etiquette will be sent with the meeting link.
