Managing Anxiety session 1: Understanding the causes and impact of anxiety
Event details
This session is a Teams facilitated session. This workshop will close for booking at 9 am on the day of the session. The Teams link will be sent out after the workshop is closed.
Two part workshop
Do you feel anxious or spend too much time worrying? Do you experience: unpleasant physical symptoms like breathlessness, heart racing and butterflies in your stomach; find it difficult to focus and concentrate; and avoid certain situations or engage in other anxiety driven behaviour? Are you experiencing anxiety for the first time or your anxiety has become worse? If you answer yes to all or some of these questions these workshops may be for you.
Both workshops are informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). They are intended to help you to gain a better understanding of anxiety and what you can do to manage it, using a range of practical strategies and techniques.
Session 1 will focus on developing a broader understanding of anxiety triggers and the types of physical sensations we experience with anxiety. Opportunities will also be given to practice strategies and techniques to cope with the physical sensations and emotional impacts of anxiety.
Session 2 will consider the links between anxiety and what we do, ie our behaviours.
We will look at what we can and can't control in terms of anxiety and try out some tools that may help us to manage our anxious behaviours.
This Teams workshop will provide an opportunity for Q&A for those who wish to engage in the chat as directed by the facilitator. Audio and video functions will be disabled in the event of a large turnout for this workshop. If numbers are small, the use of the audio and video functions may be offered. Further Teams etiquette will be sent with the meeting link.
