Event details

Entry to this group is via Practitioner-Referral Only (PRO)

First of a two-part workshop. It is important that you attend both workshops in order to benefit from the course content.

This is the first session of a two-part CBT informed psychoeducational workshop focusing on strategies to help manage the impact of worry. It is likely to be suitable for you if you relate to some or most of the following:

Feeling nervous, anxious, on edge

Unable to stop or control worrying

Worrying too much about different thing

Difficulty concentrating / mind going blank

Easily annoyed / irritable

Trouble relaxing and / or muscle tension

Sleep disturbance

Easily tired and fatigued

Part 1 of Overcoming Worry is designed to help you make sense of the worries you experience and to gain a better understanding of how they are maintained. We will then identify patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that underpin our experience of worry and start to explore strategies to help break the cycle of anxiety.

We will be using a range of mediums throughout the workshop, including power point, small group exercises and some larger group feedback. You will develop your own personal understanding of how your worry operates and what processes maintain it. You will be invited to engage in a range of evidence-based CBT exercises and strategies, designed to help you worry less over time.

Part 2 of Overcoming Worry will build on the learning from the part 1, with more of a focus on learning strategies designed to help you break out of cycles of thoughts, feelings and behaviour which can fuel your experience of worry. These strategies are ones that you can incorporate into your day to day lives and which can support you to overcome worry.

We will be using a range of mediums throughout the workshop, including power point, small group exercises and some larger group feedback. You will develop your own personal understanding of how your worry operates and what processes maintain it.

After completion of this group, you will have the option of attending our peer-led Support MOG ( Moving on Group) that meets during term-term, here at the service.
