Understanding My Mood: Ways to Manage it Better

Event details

Entry to this group is via Practitioner referral only.

This is a 5 week course and attendance at each session is required.

The group is dedicated to assisting students in gaining an understanding and formulating their current struggles through Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) principles.

It is structured into two parts. The first part involves an exploration of the fundamental principles and theories of CAT. During this phase, students are supported to reflect upon their personal experiences, understand the affect of early relationships on the way that they relate with themselves and others and formulate their Reciprocal Roles Procedures. This process unfolds within a secure space where participants engage in individual reflection without sharing personal information with the group. Utilizing the CAT Psychotherapy File, they examine procedures and compose a letter to themselves, drawing inspiration from the CAT reformulation letter.

Upon identification of unhelpful patterns and reciprocal roles, the focus shifts to the second partexploration of 'exits', ways to do things in a more helpful way. This part is tailored to the responses of the students and may vary across groups. Common themes include developing self-compassion, establishing a more balanced life, and confronting negative thoughts.

After completion of this group, you will have the option of attending our peer-led support group ( Moving on Group) that meets during term-term, here at the service.
